How to use the mares' breeding calendar
The breeding calendar is each mare's paper card, day by day: what was done and how she was at each assessment.
Before you start
- The calendar builds itself from what has already been recorded: exams, ovulations, breedings, flushes, ETs, pregnancy checks and foalings. Nothing is typed into it.
- The mare's state (oestrus, dioestrus, anoestrus...) appears only on the day an exam took place. Pregnant appears on every day of the pregnancy. No day is filled in by assumption.

The cell colour is the mare's phase on the exam day: inactive (anoestrus), transitional, follicular and pre-ovulatory (oestrus), ovulation, luteal (dioestrus) and pregnant.
On the web
- Open Reproduction and click Calendar.
- Change the month with the arrows. Each row is a mare; each column, a day.
- Filter Donors, Recipients or Broodmares.
- Hover a cell to see the day's summary. Click to open the mare's reproductive record.
- Click an empty day to record the mare's exam on that day, with the mare already chosen.
- Print generates the month's calendar as a PDF, with the organization's header.
In each mare's reproductive record, the Breeding calendar section shows the whole year, 12 months by 31 days, with arrows to change the year and the Print button.
In the app
Open the mare, tap Reproduction and the History tab. The month appears as a grid above the timeline, with the same codes, computed on the device itself: it works offline. The grid of all mares is on the web.
Common problems
The day has an exam but no colour. The exam has no follicle or corpus luteum and the phase was not entered. Open the exam and choose the Cycle phase.
The mare does not appear on the calendar. She has no record in the period. Record the exam or change the month.
The calendar says "up to 400 days at a time". The requested period is longer than a year. For more than that, generate the Breeding calendar report in the reports centre.
