How to print the stable's animal list

WebAppWorks offline

The animal list is for checking the herd, handing it to the vet, the groom or the owner, and keeping it on paper. You choose which animals go in and which columns show.

Before you start

  • For the list to show each animal's property, fill in the Current property in the animal's record. See how to register an animal.
  • The Microchip comes from the description. See how to write the horse's description.
  • The Reproductive status is calculated by GENNO from the mare's pregnancy, foaling and cycle. It is not typed in.

Build the list on the web

  1. At web.genno.app, click Animals and Printable list. Or click Reports and Animal list.
  2. Under Filters, choose Whole organization or one or more properties. With properties chosen, No property adds the animals that have no current property yet.
  3. If you like, filter by Sex, Reproductive status and Mare role, tick Group by property and choose the Order (name, birth or registration).
  4. Under Columns, the ticked columns are at the top, in the order they appear in the list. Drag a column (or use the arrows) to change the order. Under Other columns, tick the ones you want to add. Restore default goes back to the usual columns, and GENNO remembers your last choice in this browser.
  5. Check the preview on the right. The animal's name opens its record.

The default columns are Animal, Sex, Sire × Dam, Birth, Microchip, Reproductive status, Mare role and Notes. You can add Registration, Category, Sire, Dam, Age, Breed, Coat color, Owner, Property and Expected foaling.

Download or print

  • Download PDF creates the PDF with the organization's header. With many columns, the page is landscape.
  • Print opens the browser's print dialog.
  • Excel downloads the spreadsheet (.xlsx), with a frozen header and a filter on each column.
  • Word downloads the document (.docx), in landscape, with one table per property when the list is grouped.
  • CSV downloads a file that opens in any spreadsheet.

Save a column template

If you always use the same list (for example, only the mares with their reproductive status), save it as a template:

  1. Choose the columns and filters.
  2. Click Save as template and give it a name, such as "Mares — reproduction".
  3. Next time, choose the template under Column template.

Templates are shared with the whole organization's team. The bin next to the template deletes it.

In the app

  1. Tap More and Animal list. Or, in the Animals list, tap the list icon at the top. Or, in Reports, tap Animal list.
  2. Choose the properties, the sex and whether to Group by property.
  3. Tap Columns. The ticked ones are at the top, in the list's order: drag by the handle on the right to change the order, and tick under Other columns the ones you want to add. With internet, the templates saved on the web show at the top. Tap Apply. The app remembers your last choice.
  4. Tap the PDF icon to view and share the PDF, or the share icon for CSV spreadsheet, Excel (xlsx) or Word (docx).

Offline, the PDF and the CSV use the data already on the device. Excel and Word are generated by the server and need internet.

How GENNO calculates the reproductive status

StatusWhen it shows
PregnantThere is an ongoing pregnancy. Shows the days and, for a recipient, which donor the embryo comes from. Expected foaling is the breeding date plus 340 days.
Foaled (foal at foot)The mare foaled up to 180 days ago and the foal was born alive.
In cycleThe mare has an open cycle in reproductive follow-up.
OpenAn adult mare with none of the above. For a donor, it also shows how many pregnancies she has in recipients.
Not applicableStallion, gelding, colt and filly (under 3 years).

The Mare role is the one you set in the record: Broodmare (carries her own foal), Donor (gives the embryo) or Recipient (carries the donor's embryo). If it is not set, the list shows the role from the history with "(suggested)".

Common problems

The animal does not show when I choose the property. It has no Current property. Tick No property in the filters or fill in the property in the record.

The mare role shows "(suggested)". It is not set in the record. Open the animal's record and choose the role (or click Use on the suggestion).

The microchip does not show. The microchip comes from the description. Fill in the Microchip in the animal's description.
