How to create recurring entries
Boarding, salary, rent, subscriptions: whatever repeats every month becomes a recurring entry. GENNO generates each month's entry on its own, up to the current month plus the months ahead you choose. Each generated entry is an ordinary entry: pay it, cancel it, see it in the cash flow.
Before you start
- Creating and editing is for Administrator and Veterinarian; deleting is for the Administrator only.
- "Repeat the amount every month" (with a number of months) still exists for when you know how many installments there are. Recurring entries are for what has no end.
Create on the web
- At web.genno.app, click Finance and the Recurring tab. Or, when recording income or an expense, click Repeat every month, no end (recurring).
- Click New recurring income or New recurring expense.
- Choose the Category and fill in the Description and the Amount per month (or per year).
- Choose the Frequency: Monthly or Yearly (with the Month of the year).
- Enter the Due day (day 31 falls on the last day of the month).
- In Months ahead, choose how many future months are already posted (0 to 12). With 1, next month already shows in the accounts and the cash flow.
- Choose the First month and, if it ends, the Last month (optional).
- Choose the client or supplier, the property and the animal, if any, and click Create recurring entry.
Edit, pause and delete
Click the recurring entry to open it. Edit only changes the months not yet generated; entries already created stay as they are (edit each one in the Income or Expenses tab). Pause stops generating; Resume generates what was missing. Delete removes the template and keeps the entries already generated.
A generated entry shows the Recurring badge with a link to the template.
In the app
In More › Finance › Recurring. Works offline: the template appears right away and the generated entries arrive when you sync.
Common problems
This month's entry did not appear. Generation runs every night and when the recurring entry is saved. Check that it is Active and that the month is between the first and last month.
I want to change the amount from next month on. Edit the recurring entry: months already generated do not change. If next month was already generated, edit that entry too.
